The first weekend of September is dedicated to Feria, a week-long festival that’s considered the most important event of the year in Tarifa.
The festival includes a procession with around 300 horsemen marching along the streets of the town. They’re dedicated to The Virgin of Luz, the patron saint of Sanctuario De La Luz, an area located 8km away. The streets are often lined with thousands of curious onlookers. At the end of the line of horsemen is the main icon. And as soon as it arrives at the Church of San Mateo, the party then starts!
For the whole week, locals and visitors will be dancing and drinking from sunset to sunrise. Plenty of bars and restaurants will be getting involved – so come join the fun.
